Patchwork Dreams

Stories, Songs and History from Big Ugly Creek and Harts Creek, WV

Patchwork DreamsHeidi Muller compiled and edited this unique anthology of essays, oral histories, historical photos, quilt art and 24 songs she and other artists wrote with children and adults in the mountains of southern West Virginia. Resulting from her artist-in-residence work with the Big Ugly Community Center, the book has over 200 pages featuring more than 25 oral histories she helped collect between 2004 and 2007, plus poems, recipes and old newspaper articles. Two teaching CDs are included in the book with songs in both vocal and ‘karaoke’ versions. It’s a great resource for families, teachers, teaching artists, history buffs, and anyone interested in Appalachian studies and heritage.

The book may be ordered directly from the publisher, Step by Step, Inc., which is the sponsoring nonprofit organization based in Charleston, WV that oversees the Big Ugly Community Center. For ordering information, please email: sbsadmin@stepbystepwv.org
